Veteran’s Memorial Park in Manchester will come alive this Tuesday as New Hampshire marks the first-ever Outdoor Industry Day, a statewide celebration of the state’s booming outdoor recreation economy and its role in shaping New Hampshire’s future.

Running from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., the event will include a historic press conference featuring Governor Kelly Ayotte, who will officially proclaim June 10 as "New Hampshire Outdoor Industry Day." The declaration honors the vital contributions of the outdoor industry, which generates $3.9 billion annually, supports over 30,000 jobs, and fuels more than 1,000 small businesses across the state.

Hosted by the Granite Outdoor Alliance, GMC, and the New Hampshire Department of Business and Economic Affairs, the event aims to spotlight the outdoor sector’s influence on economic development, workforce growth, and sustainable tourism.

“This industry is not just about recreation—it’s about resilience, innovation, and local prosperity,” said event organizers in a joint statement. “From gear manufacturers and guides to hospitality and retail, the outdoor economy runs deep in New Hampshire’s DNA.”

Following the press conference, attendees are invited to explore the Rock City Vendor Village from 3 to 6 p.m., featuring local outdoor brands, regional partners, and hands-on demonstrations. The family-friendly event will also offer live music, food trucks, giveaways, and kid-friendly activities. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Admission is free.

New Hampshire’s diverse landscapes—from the White Mountains to its 13 miles of coastline—have made it a premier destination for hiking, skiing, climbing, paddling, and more. With outdoor participation continuing to rise, advocates say the industry’s impact is only expected to grow in the coming years.

Th celebration marks a new chapter in recognizing the sector not just as a source of recreation, but as a cornerstone of New Hampshire’s economy and identity.
