New Hampshire tourism officials are projecting a banner winter season, with an anticipated three million visitors expected to generate $1.6 billion in spending, according to forecasts unveiled at the Ski 603 Winter Kickoff event at Manchester's McIntyre Ski Area.
"New Hampshire's winter season is an integral part of our tourism industry, driving jobs, and supporting businesses in every corner of the state," said Taylor Caswell, commissioner of the NH Department of Business and Economic Affairs.
The state's ski industry is already showing strong momentum, with 14 alpine resorts either open or planning to open this week. Jessyca Keeler, President of Ski NH, noted that recent capital investments in snowmaking technology have enhanced resorts' capabilities. "Newer, more efficient equipment has made a dramatic difference, improving snow production and snow quality, while at the same time increasing sustainability and reducing energy impact," she said.
The Division of Travel and Tourism Development plans to launch its winter marketing campaign in January, targeting audiences in New England and Eastern Canada. The campaign will emphasize the state's "Live Free" motto while showcasing outdoor adventures, indoor activities, and New Hampshire's natural winter landscapes.
These promotional efforts aim to strengthen New Hampshire's position as a premier vacation destination, offering winter experiences for visitors of all abilities and interests.
