For newcomers and out-of-state homebuyers considering a move to New Hampshire, the state’s commitment to supporting military families and veterans is a major draw. That commitment was on full display this month as Easterseals NH & VT announced a successful completion of Phase I at the new Easterseals NH Military & Veterans Campus in Franklin—an innovative community resource already reshaping veteran support services in the Granite State.
Hired to bring the campus online and operational, Allen Aldenberg, Chief Military and Veterans Services Officer for Easterseals NH & VT, has officially completed his mission and will transition operational leadership to the next phase of management. A military veteran himself and the former Manchester, NH Chief of Police, Aldenberg joined Easterseals after retiring from law enforcement in 2024, taking on the critical task of establishing day-to-day systems, staffing, compliance, and service delivery at the newly developed 15-acre campus.
A Campus Designed for Veterans, First Responders & Military Families
For individuals moving to New Hampshire—especially military retirees, active-duty families seeking community support, or homebuyers hoping to live near veteran-focused resources—the new Franklin campus represents a long-term investment in accessible care, recreation, and housing.
Phase I, now complete, includes:
- Affordable veteran housing
- A retreat and conference center with 22 hotel rooms
- A hub for Veteran Service Organizations (VSOs)
- Space for Easterseals NH Veterans Count programming
- Outdoor recreation amenities designed to support physical and mental wellness
The campus opened on time and on budget, a significant milestone that Easterseals attributes largely to Aldenberg’s leadership.
“We are deeply indebted to Allen for his guidance, wisdom, and passion in getting us to this point,” said Maureen Beauregard, President & CEO of Easterseals NH & VT. “Al’s relationships with Veterans, his strength, and his energy put us in position for long-term success as we work to serve the evolving needs of Veterans and their families.”
Aldenberg’s Mission: Accomplished
Aldenberg’s work included building the operational foundation—staffing, transportation, campus culture, and compliance—and ensuring a seamless opening.“This has been a great opportunity for me, and I am deeply proud of the results of the Easterseals NH team,” he said. “I believe the campus has already become a beacon for how to serve Veterans in meaningful and impactful ways.”
While stepping back from operational leadership, Aldenberg will remain engaged with the Franklin leadership team to support a smooth transition.
What’s Next: Phase II in Development
Phase II of the campus is planned but dependent on additional funding. Future amenities include:
- An equine and therapeutic recreation facility
- A full aquatics and fitness center
These expanded services would further position Franklin as one of the region’s most comprehensive veteran-support destinations–a notable benefit for families relocating to central New Hampshire.
A Resource for Relocating Veterans & First Responders
Easterseals NH’s Military & Veterans Campus stands out as one of the few facilities of its kind in New England, offering services and amenities that make New Hampshire an appealing location for veterans considering relocation. Affordable housing options, supportive services, and year-round recreation also make the region attractive for out-of-state homebuyers who want close access to military-friendly resources.
“On behalf of our entire team – board of directors, staff, donors, and Veterans – we salute Al for a job well done and mission completed,” Beauregard said. “Our team will continue to provide the best care possible for our Veterans and their families.”
